![]() Thanks for listening any reply will be appreciated. I have asked pro's and they say different things so I try them and nothing changes so the next thing I'm going to do is to replace the pickup coil in the distributor, change the spark plugs and wires bring back the cap and rotor that I purchased and replace them also that's all I know to do after that if nothing changes then i will have to take it to a shop but only when it's going on. The cap and rotor now clicks sense it's been changed, idols rough, and seems to die more often I am really stumped. I have a 02 Chevy S10 4.3 runs good until it reaches the line above the quarter mark of the temp gauge, running down the road it slowly dies, put in neutral coasting turn the key off for 5 seconds the starts back up 2-5 miles later it does it again, sometime I can get it to catch up by pumping on the gas pedal it bogs and then back fires through the intake, it has a K&N intake performance kit but really has no balls good while it's cold but not when it's at operating temp.,1. But just inspect them first to see if they are corroded. You can try and spray water from a spray bottle on these items when it is running to see if it starts misfiring or you may even see the spark jump out of the coil or coil wire. ![]() The cap and rotor are most common, although the coil and coil wire will do the Same. They are usually inexpensive and easy to replace, and what happens is they get filled with enough sediment to block. The spark will jump around and cause it to not start. sometime you can feather the throttle and keep it running but its acary. when driving the van will run fine for awhile then it starts to stall everything shuts down but starts right back up the electrical all stays on but no brakes or steering. Wet weather can cause a no start problem if the distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil or coil wire, or spark plug wires are faulty. Asked by rrebecca in Seiad Valley, CA on September 11, 2009. Even though the pumps runs, does not mean the pressure is high enough. Was hot humid and raining out but never a problem before with starting when left truck without running before thank you.Īnswer: The fuel pump should run for 2-3 seconds with the key in the ON position, not cranking. Truck ran fine never had problem until now truck cranks fine and strong also fuel pump starts for 2-3 seconds then turns off left for 2 days came back would not start.
